A brand that acts as a passport to anywhere.

Cities are complex systems. Each hold a unique set of contexts, cultures, priorities and challenges. And as urban environments grow in population, so the challenges they are facing grow.

Several professors at University College London, funded by the Wellcome Trust, set out to deliver key global research on the systems that connect urban development and population health. The goal is to help influence and inform policy makers in accelerating their health and sustainability goals. And engage local communities to understand the issues they face from a grass roots level.

To help deliver it’s message and attract a global cohort of policy makers and engaged citizens we built a brand and website to bring multidisciplinary science to everyone. Our vision was to take CUSSH beyond a series of research reports and towards being perceived as a global authority on urban health and research.

The brand acts as CUSSH’s passport to anywhere. The marque a simple universally recognised symbol that can resolve wherever and whenever it’s needed.

The visual identity sets out to reflect CUSSH’s relationship between data and positive human outcomes. It utilises humanist forms fused with scientific geometry. The logo is built from a rigid grid and processed into a curved human shape that forms the basis for a graphic device across the identity.
