BBC Planet combines a global broadcasting icon with the undisputed home of natural history. As a series it is one of 
the worlds most recognisable. But as a brand BBC Planet was anonymous. Working alongside the marketing team at BBC Studios I helped build a brand that would allow the planet franchise to live up to its iconic name as one of the BBCs most valuable assets within it’s
portfolio.

The key idea was to create an ‘ambient’ brand system that worked hard to not impede upon the things everyone is here for and the franchise is best known for; Sir David Attenborough and some of the most magical scenes our planet can conjure.

This was expressed through a living lens that acts as an ambient layer over footage of wonder and mystery from the natural world. The lens is reactive and adaptive to the content that it sits within but never disrupts it.

The new brand was launched to coincide with the announcement of five epic new shows and gathered significant traction across the BBCs social channels upon launch.

Armed with this new creative platform the team created a series of award winning activations, campaigns and events.
